Mary Beth (Callahan) Shinney (UMass Dartmouth '93) was a four-year starter for Coach Ray Cabral's women's soccer team and captain of the 1992 Corsairs, who appeared in NCAA Division III national championship game. Shinney was the captain of the 1992 squad which is already well represented in the Corsair Hall of Fame with teammates Annmarie Gagnon, Rachel Barbarossa and Cabral. The 1992 women's soccer team was inducted into the Corsair Hall of Fame in 1996. A First Team Little East Conference All-Star, Shinney was also a Division III All-New England selection as well. Following her graduation from UMass Dartmouth, Shinney continued her soccer career by playing professional women's soccer for the Boston Renegades. An outstanding athlete in high school and college, Shinney also played women's basketball at UMass Dartmouth for two seasons.
