The coaching records at UMass Dartmouth indicate that the late Paul Fistori served as the head men's golf coach from 1997 through 2005. But his posthumous induction into the Corsair Hall of Fame recognizes a career dedicated to students and the UMass Dartmouth community. In his nine-year head coaching career, Fistori recorded a 31-12-2 overall record, guiding the Corsairs to first-place finishes in 2002 and again in 2004 at the Massachusetts Intercollegiate Championships. His team's best seasons were 2003, when UMass Dartmouth placed fifth at the ECAC Division III Championships and Fistori was named the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Division III Northeast Coach of the Year, and three years later, when his team took second in the same event and was ranked 27th nationally. The accomplishments of Fistori's teams throughout his career went a long way to re-establishing the importance of men's golf at UMass Dartmouth and recognition of the Corsairs as one of the top Division III programs in the New England region. An accomplished golfer in his own right, Fistori teamed with Bob Pallatroni in 1980 to win the Invitational Fourball at his home course, Reservation Golf Club in Mattapoisett, where he was a long-time member and club president. In addition to his contributions as golf coach, Fistori is also served for 25 years as UMass Dartmouth's Registrar and Director of University Records, where he is credited with overseeing implementation of the first electronic student records, and first student academic career audit. Twice he was elected as chairperson of the Educational Service Unit of the UMass Faculty Federation, receiving the ESU Service Award in 1989.
