Chicoine boasted an All-Star career during his time at Southeastern Massachusetts University, playing for two seasons under legendary coach, Bruce Wheeler. During his time in Dartmouth, Chicoine helped the Corsairs to a 41-35-1 overall record and an appearance in the ECAC Tournament during his senior season. Chicoine’s career was highlighted by his senior year in 1980 as the catcher batted .420 on the season, recording six home runs and 47 runs batted in.

Chicoine earned First Team All-American honors, a first for any Corsair baseball player, and he was an All-New England College All-Star – playing in Fenway Park. Following his time at SMU, Chicoine signed a professional contract with the New York Yankees and was assigned to Oneonta NY of the New York Penn League in the summer of 1980.

Chicoine, who earned his Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1980, went on to get his Master’s in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University in 1981, where he also served as an assistant baseball coach.

A 24-year veteran and Captain in the United States Navy, Chicoine held positions at Booz Allen Hamilton and within the Commonwealth of Virginia before retiring in 2024. He was inducted into the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Hall of Fame in 1993 and the Falmouth High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000.
