Hall of Fame
Annmarie Gagnon (SMU '95) holds the distinction of being the first women's soccer player in the history of the Little East Conference to earn All-Conference honors for four consecutive seasons. A four-year starter for Coach Ray Cabral's women's soccer team, Gagnon is best known one of the finest defensive players to have ever donned a Corsair uniform. An outstanding student-athlete during her career at UMass Dartmouth, Gagnon's play on defense played a large part in her team's success and that of the Hall of Fame career of goalkeeper Rachel Barbarossa. Gagnon was a member of the 1992 women's soccer team, a UMass Dartmouth Corsair Hall of Fame team, which posted a 17-3-2 overall record and appeared in the NCAA Division III national championship game. In addition to her All-LEC honors, as a senior Gagnon was named to the 1994 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Umbro Women's Division III New England Region Second-Team. Following her graduation in 1995, Gagnon was honored at the 1996 UMass Dartmouth Athletic Banquet for becoming UMass Dartmouth's first NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Award winner.
