Robert Silvia (SMU '86) started his career with the Corsairs as a two-year backup goalie to Corsair Hall of Famer John Findley. In his final two seasons as a starter, Silvia compiled his own Hall of Fame career as a member of Coach John Rolli's Corsairs. Silvia's career record includes a 43-3 won-loss record (.935 winning %) along with 3 shutouts a 2.35 goals against average and a .910 save percentage. As a junior, he was part of the Corsairs' third consecutive ECAC Championship team which defeated NESCAC power Trinity College, 3-2, for the title. As a senior, Silvia led the Corsairs to a perfect 23-0 regular season record. An ECAC All-Star that season, Silvia was the Corsairs' Most Valuable Player in both 1985 and 1986. Silva was a member of the Corsair ice hockey teams which went a year and a half without a loss - 38 consecutive wins, an ECAC record for NCAA Divisions I, II and III. Following his graduation from SMU, Silva served as an assistant coach with the Corsairs for 3 seasons.
